Grape(s): 100% Erbaluce di Caluso

Localization: Piedmont, Italy

Tasting Notes: Erbaluce di Caluso is characteristically dry, with reminiscent of meadow flowers and a distinguishable acidity.

Notes: Erbaluce is a crisp white grape varietal grown in the Canavese hills of North-eastern Piemonte since 1606, exclusively in 33 municipalities around the town of Caluso. Erbaluce takes its name from the goddess Albaluce, whose realm was Caluso.

Often called Greco, this varietal was thought to be a relative of Fiano, a white varietal from central and southern Italy. The name La Rustia is a reference to the roasted slopes where the grapes of these remarkably fresh and balanced white are grown.

Food Pairing: The well-rounded structure makes it an excellent partner to hors d'oeuvre and fish, particularly tench (a freshwater fish) and marinated trout.

The Domain: The history of the Orsolani winery began at the end of the nineteenth century, when Giovanni Orsolani and his wife Domenica returned from America recalled by the nostalgia of their land, the Canavese. Here they opened a restaurant: the Locanda Aurora and while his wife followed the activity in the kitchen, Giovanni worked in the vineyard and in the cellar for the wine production.

Today, our family is dedicated solely to the production of wines and sparkling wines, obtained almost exclusively from our vineyards, located in the most classic production areas. The Orsolani Winery produces about 150,000 bottles, 90% of which is represented by the Erbaluce, the true love of the family.

With our great honor and pleasure, we are members of the Grandi Cru d'Italia Committee, an association that gathers together all those companies that, with care and dedication, value their production and cultivation areas.
