Tasting NotesThe Chȃteau Platon has very deep dark ruby color, almost black at the core. The nose shows classic Bordeaux aromas of plums, blackberries and black currants along with subtle oak notes of coffee and chocolate. The palate has a core of currant and cherry fruit along with cocoa and subtle herbs. The finish is long, with vibrant black fruit, herbs and chocolate.

Food pairingYou can enjoy this fine red Bordeaux with favorites off the grill, like burgers, sausages, or a classic New York Strip steak. It can also pair well with lamb stew or a traditional duck cassoulet.

The Domain: The Dumas-Gauthier family has owned Château Platon in Sainte Radegonde, about ten kilometers southeast of Cotes du Castillon since 1907. Until Christelle Gauthier, daughter of the previous owner, took over in 2011, the wine was sold in bulk to the local cooperative. The vines grow on ten hectares of gently sloping vineyards with grass grown between the rows in order to limit the yields, and soil is worked three times each season to discourage superficial roots. Christelle made her first vintage in 2015 (with the help of her friend Jean-François Meynard of Château La Bourree), the vintage as a great success and the first ever vwines to be bottled on the property.
