Alcohol: 12.5%

Grape(s): 100% Sauvignon Blanc

Localization: Loire Valley, France

Tasting Notes: loaded with crisp green apple, white-fleshed citrus, and lime zest aromas and flavors with plenty of gunflint character. While it feels fleshy on the mid-palate, it’s loaded with drive and lift and finishes dry, lemony and flinty.

The Domain: Affable Domaine owner and vigneron Sebastien Treuillet, began by working for a winemaker friend in Sancerre when he was 15. His passion for winemaking aroused, he created Domaine Treuillet in 1991, based in the village of Fontenille about 7 km from Pouilly-sur-Loire. Sebastien has a number of different parcels on different soils – argile-kimmeridgean, sandy soils as well as some caillottes – limestone dominated, with very little soil. Sebastien makes gorgeous, intense Pouilly Fume of wonderful finesse from his various parcels. Sebastien also looks after the wines of his friend Magali Metenier from which he produces the fabulous value VdP Val de Loire Sauvignon. Although literally within meters of the Pouilly Fume appellation limit, this is characterized as a Vin de Pays. A VdP rarely tastes like this! This Sauvignon has won outstanding plaudits wherever presented.
